Let your spectator choose their own Christmas card in this fun effect! This always gets a good reaction!
You show your spectator a stack of Christmas cards with various pictures on the fronts.

You ask the spectator to choose one of the cards. When they read the card, it is actually written to THEM, but when they look at all the other cards, they are all blank. Pretty strange!
How to do it
To set up for this, take a stack of at least 8 or 9 Christmas cards and write out one of the cards to your intended spectator. Place this card on the bottom of the pile.
To present the trick, fan the cards to your spectator so they see all the different faces. Square the cards up and place them face down on the table.
Ask your spectator to lift off a few cards and place them to one side. You will now pick up the remaining cards and place them on top of the cards that were lifted off, but in the opposite direction, forming a cross shape.
As you do this you say that you are just marking the card that the spectator cut to.
Now pick up the top bunch of cards and point to the top card of the lower bunch, telling the spectator to take the card that they chose. In fact this is NOT the card they chose, but the back card, that you have already scrawled on!
All that you now have to do is have your spectator read the card that they chose and then look at the other cards. They will be amazed to see that they chose the only card that was actually written in.
This method of controlling the spectators choice is called the 'Cross-Cut Force' and can be found in most good card magic books.
