Brainwave Frequencies - How Do I Know What My Brain is Doing?

The Beta brainwave frequency is the 'usual' frequency of non meditators. It corresponds in everyday life to the experience of busy-ness and stress. We could also call this 'fragmentation' of experience where suffering happens. Whenever you get angry, frustrated, confused, lethargic, you can bet your mind is in Beta. For those who are scientifically minded (no pun intended), the frequency range is 25-14 hertz. If we could hear the sound our brain makes in that state, it would sound like static on a radio! Not good...

Next, say we start to relax. For instance we may be engaged in an activity we enjoy such as painting, taking photographs, cooking, bush-walking, etc... Whatever it is we find relaxing. These are a lightweight form of meditation in action. See, you are already doing it. NO! Watching TV is not a relaxing hobby!!! It fills your mind with more junk... So, the Alpha frequency can be measured as well with an electro-encephalogram (EEG) and is in the range of 13-8 hertz. We experience wakeful focus and relaxation. Some call it the 'runner's high'. Country people experience it more often than city dwellers because of the slower pace of their lifestyle.

Now let's get a bit deeper. Between 7-3 hertz is the Theta brainwave frequency. Oooohhh! We like this one. If anyone out there wants to share their experience, please feel free to contact me. In the meantime, here are some common experiences. We have now gone way into meditation and some people may experience increased intuition, visions, voices, angels, etc... Personally I don't experience these phenomena because I go straight into the next one...

And that is, the Delta brainwave frequency. In Delta, phenomena stop! Oh, how boring you may think! It's the void, nothing happening... It can even feel as though we have fallen asleep. Well, do not be fooled! This is the layer of healing and deep regeneration where conflicts get sorted and suffering disappears, opening the door to inner peace. It is extremely rare for people in this day an age to experience this on a consistent basis. And you lucky bunch can go into it everyday by putting your headphones on!

Just take a moment to realise the enormity of what you have manifested in your life!!!

Congratulations.

These are transcendental states of meditation or unified consciousness displayed by the mystics.

Yes, but that's them, I can hear some of you protest. Some of you think this is unachievable for the rest of us. Wrong! You can/will/do start experiencing glimpses of it as early as when you are on phase I of the Recognitions program. The technology works. I am speaking from experience. And I say, hats off to Master Charles who pioneered and engineered this meditation program for making these experiences accessible to 'normal' westerners like us!

So now in your next meditation, see if you can evaluate which brainwave pattern your meditative experience generates. Will you go as far down as alpha, theta or delta?
